Cerclage
The Start 2
We knew prior to having another baby, that I was going to have a high risk pregnancy. Just like with Sylvie I was going to be booked for another cervical cerclage because of CI (cervical incompetence).
I went into the hospital for my cervical length ultrasound on the Thursday at 15 weeks gestation. It was followed with a back to back appointment with my obgyn and in similar haste to Sylvie, my surgery was booked for the following morning.
I felt a bit rushed to have it the next day but also relief that it would be done. I was glad I didn’t have the time to roll it around in my mind and get nervous.
The surgery day was really smooth, it was done under GA, they checked my ops and babies FHR and I was discharged home a few hours later.
The healing was quicker and less painful than my first cerclage with Sylvie. This is because they went through the scar tissue from the first surgery like a guideline.
I had my post op check a week later and was fully healed in two weeks. My obgyn was happy with the placement of the stitch and did a pressure check for funneling.
I got my long list of rules back, no lifting, no long walks, no pools, no baths and no standing for too long. These are not easy rules with a toddler.
