Welcome to Alex Rose.
As a young girl, I was always moving and full of energy. One winter day on the couch at home my Mother decided to teach me to crochet to help sit still. I was very fortunate to have such a patient teacher. Crochet has brought me peace and tranquillity; I jokingly call it my meditation. Though new creations come from hard work and plenty of math, I find a great joy in turning my visions into reality.
It has been over 20 years that I have crocheting. I love everything about chunky yarns, fluffy pompoms and being toasty warm. I love when people share their photos and I get to see them enjoying what I have created with my two hands just for them. I especially love when I see a photo of someone in a beanie I made 10 years ago and it’s still their favourite.
My husband and I live in Auckland, New Zealand in a small house with our two little miracles and mini schnauzer.
So that is me, with my hook in hand, I am ready and excited to spread the warmth and love across New Zealand.

The Bun Beanie Craze
It all began with a viral post on Facebook during lockdown #1. I was excited, I was overwhelmed, I accidentally deleted my social media and I panicked.
It all worked out in the end and in the past few years I have made over 700 bun beanies!

About the fit.
For the ideal fit your head size should be inbetween new and full stretch.
Newborn
Suggested for ages 0-6 months, however heads vary in size. A measurement is always king. There are no headbands or slouchies in Newborn or infant sizes as we wouldn’t want them to slide over bubs nose and mouth.
New: 32cm
Full Stretch: 52cm
Small
This sizing is available in headbands and pompom beanies. The stretch and characteristics of the chunky loose tension hooked style hats like the Lexie in small will fit both kids and women.
It stretches to fit the wearer.
New: 38cm
Full Stretch: 58cm
Infant
Suggested for ages 6-12 months, however all heads vary in size. A measurement is always the best method to ensure a good fit.
New: 35cm
Full Stretch: 56cm
Regular/Medium
This is sized to fit the average women’s head. Remember most of my beanies have lots of stretch and wear in to fit the owner.
New: 40-44cm
Full Stretch: 64-68cm
Toddler/1YR
This sizing is available in slouchies, pompom beanies and in the Isla Headband. And is the only size of Winnie Bear Beanie!
New: 38cm
Full Stretch: 58cm
Unisex/Relaxed
This size could be called by many names. I love stealing my hubby’s beanie when its all worn in, wider and so comfy, thats this fit.
New: 45cm
Full Stretch: 69cm
The chunky loose hooking of the yarn allows for a range in the fit.
Brand new the hat is quite neat however it will stretch with wear. About 5-10 wears in and the hat will settle to fit the wearer.
The more you wear in the hat, the comfier it will get.
