My Uterus The JERK

The Start 11

November…… 😳

November…… 😳

I had a really restless night and sweating from the steroids.

My antibiotics and nifedipine are coming to the end of their course, they won’t intervene with drugs again if I start going into labour. Too much nifedipine is bad for the blood pressure.

It’s 7am and goodbye mucus plug, hello contractions. Starting every 2 minutes, lasting 30 seconds but only a 2-4 out of 10 in pain. And then 5-6 out of 10 in pain lasting 40 seconds every 5 minutes. The contractions app is super helpful for keeping track when the nurses ask.

The doctors check me out, my obs are stable , my cervix is closed, baby’s FHR is good and my uterus is a jerk.

I’m not NIL by mouth so I take the opportunity to have some lunch. The contractions stop, what is my body doing?!

It doesn’t stop for long though, it’s 2pm and the contractions are back, every 12 minutes lasting 30 seconds. An hour later and they’re back up to 6/10 pain.

My ops are still fine, I’m still leaking and bleeding but I’m handling the pain so I’m just being monitored. Rolls on 6pm and the contractions are 1 minute long every ten minutes an 6-8 out of 10 in pain.

The doctors come back and my cervix is still closed!

It’s now 8pm and I want to tap out. Im exhausted from being in pain all day. I can’t sit down and my legs have the shakes. The nurse suggests a hot shower while she sees what pain relief I can be charted. It helped a lot and I got a cocktail of Panadol, tramadol and a muscle relaxer. I laid down to close my eyes, Lee too on the spare mattress next to me.

The nurse came in around midnight to check in on me. Lee wasn’t sure if he should stay the night or go home. There is no way to know the right answer, I said well how long is a piece of string? Lee headed home to get some sleep and he could get Sylvie to daycare in the morning.

As it turns out this piece of string was short, real short.
