Market Tips

  • Standing Up

I understand that a long day and all the setup can be tough on your back, but it’s important to stand up. Body language plays a crucial role in our communication and sales interactions.

It’s perfectly fine to take a break and sit down when foot traffic is low. If you do, make sure to stay engaged by actively working on one your projects, keeping your WIP visible and always looking up.

  • Build It Up

Now, I don't mean reaching for the sky here, but your visuals definitely need some height. Get creative and consider upcycling—like using empty formula tins to showcase beanies. Just remember, what goes up can come down, so ensure your display is securely anchored.

  • Look the Part

Wear your top item or favorite piece from your stock.

It’s a powerful way to showcase its appeal. I’ve noticed that items I’m wearing tend to attract more interest and sales. Plus, it naturally sparks conversations and brings in potential buyers to come and have firsthand look at the product.

  • Small Chat

Welcome small talk as a key part of your approach—make it a goal. Greet people as they walk by, say "good day" or ask "how are you?" Invite them into your space. Even if they don’t make a purchase, their presence helps create a buzz around your stall and can attract other potential buyers.

  • Professional Signage

This small addition can really elevate your stall. It’s easy to create on your own or buy locally; any friend with a Cricut machine can assist. For example, I made my favorite clear acrylic sign using white vinyl stickers and thick craft ribbon.

  • Color Palette

Establishing a color tone and theme is crucial. Color plays a significant role in marketing due to the psychological effects different hues have on people. Using too many colors can be overwhelming and may dilute your brand’s identity, potentially giving off a second-hand or cheap impression.
